Not a happy ninja wanna be

So yesterday sucked. I tried to shake the mood but it would not leave me. It kept lingering. I could feel the tension in my nerve endings. Anxiety coursing through my veins.
Today I woke feeling on edge. Not a way to wake up. So I started humming.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favorite things

But a little different version...

Ninjas and lizards and pirates and kittens
bright colored tee shirts and novels well written
Dancing with friends while we all try to sing
These are a few of my favorite things

(Like I am going to show a picture of me and my friends dancing. Yeah Right!)

So if you're down, sing a little and remember it is NINJA FUN FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Ninja with a cause Monday

How do we choose?

We choose what we support by who we know is effected by the disease. If it be yourself, a family member, or friend. I don't mean donate, I mean support. Get the word out there. I donate to even more causes just like a lot of people. Hurricane relief, Tornado relief, earthquake relief, Tsunami relief. You know when you can send a text and ten dollars is donated. Making it really easy to send a little help. We buy candy bars, tee shirts, and raffle tickets and a portion of the proceeds goes to some cause. It makes us feel good and we get something in return.

I support DTP awareness because my ninja friend is afflicted with a type called Gastroparesis
I support Autism awareness because my son has Asperger Syndrome
I support Breast Cancer awareness because the women in my family always get breast cancer. Well except my one sister who got lung cancer and the irony of that is she is the only woman in the family who did not smoke, If there is a God he has got a funky sense of humor, Just sayin'. But I digress once again.

Are there other diseases or medical conditions people I know have or even have  passed away from? Yes, there are. I donate to them. I can't tell you why the three above effect me more than the others, they just do.

Be supportive

My silly ninja morning

Sit right back and I'll tell you a tale......
I had an interesting morning and I wanted to share.
Today I drove my daughter to the community college for class and hung out in the parking lot til she was done her first class. She had a follow up appointment with a plastic surgeon. She was bit by a dog in the face over a month ago, proving animals just like life can be unpredictable. But I digress. Sitting in the parking lot I people watched. I wondered if any were ninjas. One of the guises of ninjas is to blend into the crowd. If there was ninjas in disguise they were doing a great job. I couldn't spot one.
After my daughters class we went to breakfast to kill a little time and do the whole one on one mother daughter thing. I ordered egg white omelette with veggies, no cheese. Dry rye toast, turkey bacon, no fried potatoes. I received an omelette with cheese on it, toast with butter on it, fried potatoes on my plate and no turkey bacon. After I reminded them of my turkey bacon they brought me burnt regular bacon. No I am not exaggerating. I may have understood if they were wicked busy but the place was empty except for us and five other people taking up two tables.
Proving incompetence is alive and well in the world.
Off to the appointment. I parked the car and could not help notice all the cars were BMWs, Mercedes, Toyotas, a couple Audis and one Nisson SUV. Looking at my little old Ford Focus parked in the row I couldn't help but sing.."one of these things is not like the others".
Proving Sesame Street has had a lasting effect on me.
In the office I realize the furniture in the waiting room was worth more than all the furniture in my house put together. I decided I have made a few poor financial decisions in my life. Or should I say poor educational choices.
Proving a good education can have profitable benefits.
Just in case you are wondering my daughter is healing wonderfully. The plastic surgeon asked my daughter if she wore make up she said no. Then he turned to me and asked me if I wear make up. I said no. He than says not even eyeliner and mascara? I said no.Then the handsome plastic surgeon starts examining my face closely as if I was lying, staring at my eyes. Talk about self conscious. Yikes! And maybe a little annoyed. Why would someone lie about something so trivial?
But what isn't trivial is my car is leaking and I just spent over three hundred dollars to fix the leak.
You bet I am about to go ninja on someone.
Where's my sword!?

Be competent
Be educated
Be Ninja

Thursday's combo

Push front, cross, hook, slip, step, cross, hook, cross, Round Two, Knee one

I hate throwing knee kicks. I rarely throw them. But have to admit when watching MMA on the t.v. I find it very exciting seeing a fighter executing a flying knee kick. Especially when it connects.
I don't see me throwing any flying knee kicks in the near future or well....ever.
Forty five years old and don't pretend I can do what a twenty year can do. No worries there is plenty I can do that they can not. With age comes experience and wisdom. ( well you hope )

Be realistic

Wednesday's Ninja Purchase - SOCKS!

Cute or what?

These ones are actual men's socks. I need to find pink ones for girls

Totally loving the Tabi socks!

missed Monday and Tuesday again....

So yet again I am behind.
Ninja with a cause Monday is a article I found on the G-Pact facebook page
I found it to be a important article. So click and read it cause it's important.
It's not too long so read it. Thank you.

Last Thursday I said to come back on Tuesday and I would explain the simple math comment.
So here I go.
I was taught in Kick Boxing that at times you become emotional while sparring you need to do a little math in your head. I am not talking algebraic equations but basic math. Adding, subtraction, maybe a little multiplication.
There are many reasons why a fighter can become emotional while sparing. When this happens your technique tends to diminishes, your control falters and you can't think straight causing a negative outcome. Now the key is to realize you are becoming emotional and start doing math. Yep math. Your brain cannot do both  the whole emotional thing and logical thing I guess at the same time. Well at least not well. Do the math and your control will start to come back. I had one instructor would yell out math equations to the fighters as they spared to get  us to chill if we were not as control as we should have been. I still do it when I feel myself getting frustrated while sparring. Grappling I hum to relax so I can regroup.
Now on the street it is a whole other ballgame. It is about adrenaline and survival. I can't see how it is nothing but emotional.

I would think ninjas must be math geniuses by the time they get to the level of control they possess.
I'd rather be a ninja.

Be mathematical

Thursday Combination (k.i.s.s.)

1,2, R2

When all else fails go back to the basics. Regroup. Do a little simple math in your head and smile.

What do you mean a little math in your head, you say?
Come back Tuesday and I will tell ya why.

Be well
